Hi, I' m Ekin. 21 years old, from Turkish roots and the founder/creative director of Delarue Studios. I was raised among girls in the Netherlands within a small family where there were no boys my age. From an early age I was drawn to creative pursuits; around eleven or twelve the other girls began sketching from fashion magazines, and I eagerly joined them. When their interest waned, I continued with determination. Designing and drawing clothing quickly became more than a hobby—it became a central part of my identity. I devoted hours to studying silhouettes, fabrics, and the way garments move on the body, teaching myself techniques and refining my sketches with an intensity that surprised even me. As I grew older, that childhood curiosity evolved into deliberate study. I sought out books, attended workshops, and apprenticed informally with local seamstresses to learn construction, pattern-making, and sewing—skills that transformed my ideas into wearable garments. College introduced me to new perspectives on design, sustainability, and the business of fashion, broadening my ambitions beyond aesthetic expression to responsible creation. Despite challenges and unexpected detours, I stayed committed to my vision. Each collection I developed—however small—taught me lessons about fit, storytelling, and craftsmanship. Collaborations with photographers, models, and fellow creatives helped me understand how a garment communicates identity and emotion. Over time, those early sketches matured into thoughtful designs that reflect our wildest dreams. DELARUE STUDIOS emerged from this continuous process of practice, learning, and persistence: a label dedicated to considered design, quality construction, and garments that carry a narrative. Today, DELARUE STUDIOS honors the curiosity and discipline that sparked its beginning, while embracing innovation and ethical practices as we grow. The brand remains committed to creating pieces that feel personal, intentional, and enduring—garments born from a lifelong devotion to clothing and a belief in the power of design to shape how we move through the world.
